John was born in Lansdowne PA. Attended St Charles Borromeo School in Drexel Hill PA. Then moved to West Chester PA and attended Malvern Prep School. John earned a Division I NCAA football scholarship to Villanova University, where he had the opportunity to play with Howie Long, former defensive lineman and NFL Hall of Famer. (My claim to Fame!)
John started his insurance and financial services career in 1992, in the conference room of a regional sales office of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. Two years later, John opened his office in Hockessin, DE. Under his watch, Koziol Insurance |Retirement |Investment has grown into a multimillion-dollar independent insurance and financial services company operating in 7 states.
John is a lifelong learner and currently enrolled in the Horn Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Delaware. John is a member of CrossFit Wheelhouse in Avondale, PA, and competed in the CrossFit Open. John supports Kickstarter, helping creative projects come to life. Currently assistant offensive line coach for Newark HS.
John is married to Maryann, a special education teacher and have been blessed with 4 children. I recently helped my oldest son demo and update his 1840 farmhouse and barn in Landenberg PA and learning how to become a gentleman farmer.
I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Matawan, NJ which is not far from the Jersey Shore. After graduating from Matawan Regional High School, I attended and graduated from Ursinus College, located in Collegeville, PA.
Upon college graduation, my insurance career began. I have worked for two major insurance companies as well as an international insurance brokerage firm. Since 1993, I have been an insurance consultant, working primarily as a broker. I hold designations as a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) as well as Registered Health Underwriter (RHU). I was proud to join Koziol Insurance Retirement Investments in 2015.
I am active member of the Hockessin Business Association. I am also a parish member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Hockessin and I was active in the Christian Youth Movement. I am currently on a leave of absence from the Northern Delaware Football Officials Association and I was formerly active in Piedmont Baseball in Hockessin, DE. Yes, I officiated high school and youth sports.
I moved with my family to Hockessin in 1991 from Pennsylvania. My wife, Mary and I have been married for 40 years. We have 3 adult daughters, 2 son-in-laws and three adorable grandchildren."

Brian Villec is highly skilled in consulting and collaborating with advisors and their clients to develop and implement long term financial strategies to include business succession planning, estate planning, long-term care insurance planning, disability income protection and retirement income planning. Brian believes in a consultative approach tailored to each client’s individual needs, goals and risk tolerance. This approach often-times includes coordination with clients’ legal and tax advisors in developing and implementing their plan.
With a 20-year plus history in the investment, life insurance and annuity industry, Brian is better able to understand and assist advisors with challenges of an ever-changing wealth planning environment. Brian earned a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Science in Management from the American College. He holds a number of industry credentials including his CFP®, CLTC®, and RCC. Securities registrations include: Series 6, 7, 63, 66 and 24.
Brian began his financial services career for Smith Barney and OppenheimerFunds in New York City before moving back to the Mid Atlantic area where he joined Nationwide. Seeking to make an even greater impact and bring more value, Brian has partnered with property and casualty agencies to deliver financial planning services to agency clients.
Brian enjoys spending his free time with his 3 children. He spent many years volunteering with his sons’ Boy Scout Troop 33 in Wilmington, DE. And was often found on camping, hiking and canoeing trips with his boys. Including several “high adventure” trips in Upstate New York and a 50-mile backpacking trip in Yellowstone National Park. Brian proudly supports his daughter’s competitive rowing team and her academic success – he is her biggest fan.
